How Many Days Does Turmeric Take To Remove Hair?

Turmeric is a popular spice used in the kitchen, usually used in curries and other savoury dishes.

So why would we use it as a beauty product, I hear you ask? (Mindreader I Know)

Actually, Turmeric is used in many skin routines, including hair removal, this blog helps to answer the biggest question of all, “how many days does it take to remove hair with Turmeric?”.

Turmeric is a natural alternative that has been used for centuries in Indian beauty rituals. Unlike other hair removal methods, turmeric is not instant.

It usually takes 7-10 days to see results, but depending on the hair density and skin type, it may take longer. However, turmeric is gentle on the skin and does not cause irritation or redness.

We have looked at the benefits of using Turmeric and its disadvantages, to help you decide if this is the best method of hair removal for you.

We have researched the different types of Turmeric you can choose for your ‘hair-removal-athon’ (like my new word, it sometimes feels like a marathon) such as homemade hair removal paste. Follow our easy steps to achieve the best results in the fewest days.

What is Turmeric?

Turmeric is a brightly coloured yellow spice made from the roots of a plant in the ginger family.

  • Hair Density – The denser your hair, the more days it will take for the Turmeric to remove your hair.
  • Storage  – Ensure your Turmeric is stored in a safe, dry place to keep all the natural organic goodness within the ingredients for your paste.
  • Frequency – Using a turmeric paste to remove hairs frequently, helps to thin the hair shafts in around 6 – 8 weeks, making it easier to remove when you regarly apply the Turmeric.
  • Male or Female – Turmeric can be used for both male and female, but it is easier and you will generally acheive better results on females with less and more delicate hairs to remove.

Choosing Turmeric For Your Paste

  • Powders should be easy to find in all supermarket stores. I reccomend this Turmeric Powder called lovetolive, it come in many different amount options, the more you purchase in one go the better value you will find.

  • Turmeric powders are available in any Indian, Persian and middle eastern type small grocers.
  • Turmeric supplements are also an option, and you would need to crush the Turmeric to achieve your powder (one of the more expensive options)

This may be a little bit more of a messier, harder to create your paste as you will need to crush the supplements, these may be more cost-effective. Take a look for yourself at the Nature Made Turmeric Curcumin which is our top brand of turmeric supplements.

Benefits of Using Turmeric

Cost-Effective – Using Turmeric for hair removal is the cheaper option than other hair removals methods such as waxing, laser removal, and shaving.

Safe – Using Turmeric is more likely to be gentle on the skin, safe to use on your skin without irritation. It’s very safe for sensitive skin as it’s not known to cause any side effects.

Fade Spots – If you suffer from dark spots on your skin, this is a great ingredient to fade any dark spots. So even if this isn’t your intention for your turmeric paste, it can get two jobs complete in one.

Disadvantages of Turmeric

Stains – Turmeric is a bright yellow spice so sometimes can leave a yellow tinge stain on the skin. However, this is nothing to worry about, as turmeric skin stains are temporary.

Simply gently wash the area that is stained with warm soapy water if this doesn’t work, use a scrub to remove the top layer of the skin to remove the yellow colour.

Strong Odor – Turmeric does have a strong smell that can be offensive to some.

Turmeric Hair Removal Steps

Step 1 –

Once you have created your turmeric paste (check the recipes suggested below), apply on the areas you have hair you would like to remove.

It would be easiest to use a makeup brush to apply the paste evenly.

Step 2 –

Leave the turmeric paste to dry before moving onto the next step thoroughly, or it will not work efficiently.

Step 3 –

You can tell if your turmeric face mask is dry by not only touch, but you can also tell by your skin feeling tighter than before.

It will also start to crack and crumble when the paste has worked its magic.

Step 4 –

Pull off any parts of the paste that can come off in one; this almost works as a wax for the hairs as it has dried onto the hair and pulls out the majority when removing the dried paste.

Step 5 –

Whatever is left of the turmeric paste on any body parts, just add lukewarm water to a cloth to remove the remaining mask.

Just pat dry with a towel and voila finished, easy right!
